April Ross
April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball stars to capture medals at more than one Olympics. Alix-Klineman will be competing with Ross at Tokyo for her third gold in the coming days. Ross hopes to win more than her first Olympic medal. There is a chance that she has one chance at winning, as she's 39 old. However, she is certain of taking top honors. Ross was mentioned on NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your top, even if you perform well, you will win the gold. Also, I'll take the chance to have chance. Ross was a Californian born in Costa Mesa in 1982. Her family lived in the area along with her parents and younger sister. In addition to playing in numerous sports, Ross also attended Newport Harbor High School. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball as well as basketball, running and track. However, she was a standout in this sport. In her college profile, she was an outside-hitting hitter, middle blocker, and setter in her volleyball playing career during high school. She was named by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999 due to her accomplishments. She also received her the Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman have been performing their roles since 2017. However, Ross played a significant role in the world of beach volleyball before joining the duo. She has won major competitions with different players. The other has become an icon in the world of volleyball. Ross teamed up together with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and also was Klineman's coach. Kessy and Ross were strong on the world circuit, winning the world championship in 2009 together. They went into winning a silver in the 2012 Olympic Games at London. They were defeated for the gold medal by the legendary group of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. The pair were able to win the beach volleyball bronze during the Rio Olympics in 2016. Following high school, and for a few many years before hitting the beach as a professional Ross was a ball with the Trojans of USC as an NCAA. She had a great run in the NCAA tournament. She was an All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of Year in the year 2000, a young freshman. Her Trojans were also able to make it to the Final Four. She was devastated by a tragic incident in her second year, but she went on to be an All-American in her second year. Over her final two years as a player, she led the Trojans towards the top of the mountain netting consecutive national championships. In 2003-2004, she was named as the most successful female volleyball player at a collegiate level in the US according to the Honda Sports Award. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Unfortunately Ross mother Margie did not get to see her daughter ascend to the top levels of beach volleyball superstardom. When Ross was in her sophomore year at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. This meant that Ross continues to be close to her parent who died. Margie is a constant source of inspiration for her both at and off the beaches.
