April Ross

April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball athletes to win medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with April Ross Tokyo for her third gold medal in the next few days. In addition, Ross is aiming to capture the first Olympic gold. At 39, it could be her last chance to achieve it. But she's still certain of taking top honors. Ross was reported by NBC Boston as saying that when you perform at your very highest, and even do well, we'll get the gold. "I'm also going to try a little luck." Ross was a Californian born in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. Her family lived in the area with her father, mother and sibling. The athletic pursuits she pursued began at Newport Harbor High School where she played in a variety of different sports. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball, as well as basketball, track and running. She was clearly the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. In her own biography in high school, she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) and setter (outside blocker). For her efforts she was named in 1999 as the Gatorade Champion of Champions Circle of Champions Player of the Year. Also, she won the award in 2000. Orange County Athlete of the Year trophy for volleyball. Ross is currently playing with Klineman since 2017. However, Ross's beach game was established well before the year. She's won big competitions with different players. A couple of those is an icon of the volleyball world. Ross teamed up together with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and was also Klineman's trainer. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be strong on the international circuit, winning the world championship in 2009 together. They took home a Silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. They were knocked out of the gold medal by the legendary team comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings was the replacement for May-Treanor as she retired. The team won bronze in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a college athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to the start of her professional career. She played during high school, as well as years prior to hitting the beach as a professional. It was a successful career for Ross in the college level. The year 2000 was her freshman year. earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of the Award and also be named an All-American. Additionally, she was an integral player to help the Trojans to make it to their way to the Final Four. She endured a great personal loss during her sophomore year, but was still capable of achieving the All-American title. Through the two years she played for the Trojans they helped to win two consecutive titles. Her individual achievements have cemented her place as a legendary volleyball player. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the best female college player. Ross studied international relations at USC. Margie Ross wasn't able to see her daughter's climb to beach volleyball fame. Ross suffered the loss of her mother to breast cancer in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. This meant that Ross is still near to her mother who passed away. In addition, Margie is an ongoing source of inspiration to her on the beaches and throughout her daily life.
