April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball athletes to win medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with April Ross Tokyo for her third gold medal in the next few days. In addition, Ross is aiming to capture the first Olympic gold. At 39, it could be her last chance to achieve it. But she's still certain of taking top honors. The athletic pursuits she pursued began at Newport Harbor High School where she played in a variety of different sports. In her own biography in high school, she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) and setter (outside blocker). Ross suffered the loss of her mother to breast cancer in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. This meant that Ross is still near to her mother who passed away. In addition, Margie is an ongoing source of inspiration to her on the beaches and throughout her daily life.
