Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She is the author of fifteen books and is the cofounder the magazine The Huffington Post. Arianna Huffington is an author TV personality, philanthropist, and TV host as well as the owner and publisher of The Huffington Post. Her move from Greece to England aged 16 where she earned an MA from Cambridge University in Economics. The famous debating society The Cambridge Union was her first president and she took it at the age of 21. She was a conservative syndicated writer after graduation and, with The Huffington Post launched a couple of years later, she developed an online voice platform with a critique of current political scenarios. It was possible for her to recruit several prominent contributors who posted their thoughts on culture and politics. Arianna gained notoriety after she was elected as an independent candidate in the California recall election to succeed Governor Davis. In addition, she was also the leader of a Detroit initiative that promoted fuel efficient vehicles. Forbes named her as one of the "most powerful woman" in media, placing her at 12th. Guardian placed her on their list of the 100 most important media figures in 2009. AOL, Inc. made her the President of their media group in 2011 following the acquired The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post also included other AOL brands, including Engadget AOLmusic Style list and Patch Media. Elli is the daughter of Konstantinos Stasinopoulos and Elli the other, both of whom are management consultants and journalists. Though she shared a close friendship with both her father and mother, it was their bond which shaped her. Even as a young girl, she showed leadership traits that she still is known for. At the age of 16, she moved over to the United Kingdom for her higher education. At Girton College Cambridge. While in college she was a member of the Cambridge Union's college debating societies and eventually was its first female and foreign president. In 1972, her master's in Economics was awarded. Following her graduation, she worked as an editor of the critic's column and a television host. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on an episode of Face the music.
