Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She's the co-founder and chief executive officer of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is an author and philanthropist as well as a television host as well as the proprietor of the independently open online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Following her move to England from Greece at 16, she received a MA with a major in Economics from Cambridge University. She was the first student non-UK to serve as the president of The Cambridge Union at the age of 21. Following her graduation, she was a prominent Conservative syndicated journalist. After a few years after that she launched The Huffington Post which featured critiques of the current political landscape. In part, her fame has helped attract a number of famous contributors. Arianna became famous after she decided in 2003 to stand as an independent candidate for the California Recall Election to replace former Governor Davis. Additionally she was the leader of the Detroit Project for efficient vehicles that use less fuel. Forbes placed her at 12 on their list of the Top Popular Media Women. Guardian also included the Huffington Post on their Top 100 list in 2010. AOL purchased The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. She was then made the President of the media division at AOL. The group included several AOL-owned brands, including Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Elli is the child of Konstantinos, a journalist and management consultant. They were very close to her father. But it was the relationship she had with her mother which shaped her. Even as a young girl, she showed leadership traits which she is still renowned for. In her 16th year, she returned to the UK for a degree and attended Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of the Cambridge Union college debate society while in college, where she was the third and first female to serve as the president. She graduated in 1972 with a Masters in Economics. After her graduation she worked as a journalist-critic as well as a TV host. The appearance she made in Face the music with Bernard Levin was also noteworthy.
